HELEN - MY DEAREST STUDENT.

At the age of five, I contracted trachoma, an eye disease, which left me blind and without reading or writing skills. I received my education as a student of the Perkins School for the Blind, where upon graduation I became a teacher to Keller when I was 20.

At the start when I met Helen and her family, I thought that it'll be easy to teach Helen, but I was wrong, she was very Naughty and didn't listen to anyone and was very aggressive and hit everyone in her family. "The processes of teaching the child that everything cannot be as he wills it are apt to be painful both to him and to his teacher." The first 2 words I taught Helen were 'doll' and 'cake' by finger movements and also lipreading. I taught her Face expressions by keeping her hand on my face and showing some types of expressions.

After a couple of months I tried handling her after a lot of hits and tries of handling her. Even she felt comfortable with me and her parents also believed in me, this was after I taught her to eat food with the spoon and whiling sitting on one place. We also had a great fight between us first when she locked me in her room and hide the keys and the second one was in the kitchen where I had to act harshly on her.

I met Helen's brother-James, coincidentally my brother his name was Jimie. Jimie died at the battlefield. We all like stories that make us cry. It's so nice to feel sad when you've nothing in particular to feel sad about"So I after that I usually Called Helen's Brother - Jimie. Many Of them including Jimie and Helen's Parents asked me that how do you handle Helen and Why do you teach such kind of children. I teach such kind of children because "Children require guidance and sympathy far more than instruction".

After some days We both got comfortable with each other. I also took her to my home for some days, where she had a lot of fun learning and staying with me. the whole day she played with my  dog, she also loved eating cakes. sometimes I felt myself in her, I missed my brother after seeing James, Helen had very sweet and kind family but all of them were sad regarding Helen.

I always had good vibes while teaching her and never argued or never took advantage of them. I could taught her discipline so easily, this was all because I had gone through this situation before when I was a small kid. But I was very happy teaching Helen. This was exactly what i wanted from my life. Yes there were some ups and downs but life is nothing without them.

the Most emotional and Happiest part for me and Helen' parents was near the waterpump where she learnt most of the words on her own, and she also proved me write, as i asked her some words like 'water' (she tried speaking water from her mouth), 'ground', 'pump', 'tree', her parents cried out of happiness when the got to know that she can spell out word from hand movements. Eve my eyes filled with water after this happy scene.
